Lynnville-Sully boys win Centerville track meet title

CENTERVILLE — Winning eight events boosted Lynnville-Sully’s boys to their first track meet team victory of the season. The Hawks won the Centerville Co-ed Big Red Relays’ boys championship Friday.

“Friday night was a lot fun. We really stepped up, and our guys took the next step in winning the meet,” Lynnville-Sully head coach Mike Parkinson said. “It was a great night for our mid-distance team as our 4x800 got the night off right winning in a season’s-best time.”

The Hawks’ 4x800 relay team won in 8 minutes, 53.73 seconds. Lynnville-Sully also won the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:03.13 and the 4x400 in 3:43.83.

Corey McCoy claimed first in the 400 meters in 53.24 seconds. Ryan Hofer took the gold in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.28 seconds and Tyson Vander Linden was first in the 400 hurdles in 59.84 seconds.

Sage Ehresman and Rylan James went 1-2 in the shot put with throws of 48 feet, 4 inches and 40-5, respectively. Ehresman won the discus with a toss of 137-10.

Lynnville-Sully competes at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Tuesday. Field events begin at 4:30 p.m.
