HLV teams beat L-S golf squads

LYNNVILLE — In a home South Iowa Cedar League co-ed golf dual, Lynnville-Sully’s girls and boys lost to visiting HLV Monday at Diamond Trail Golf Course in Lynnville.

The Warrior boys fired a 186 four-player total for the nine-hole meet. The Hawk boys finished at a 211.

Caleb Jansen shot a 47 to pace Lynnville-Sully, tying for runner-up honors with HLV’s Mitch Thys. HLV’s Dalton Kriegel was the meet medalist for the boys with a 43.

Kyle Van Dyke had the second lowest score for the Hawks with a 49. Holden Jansen carded a 51, and Abram Collins shot a 64. Also playing for Lynnville-Sully was Dane Fuchs, who had a 70.

HLV’s girls ended with a 220 team score to Lynnville-Sully’s 261. The Warrior girls were led by meet medalist Brooke Kuesel with a 45.

Lynnville-Sully’s top score of the day was carded by Ida Byggeth with a low 61. Tessa Van Maanen came in with a 63 followed by Kristine Jaenette with a 67 and Makayla Smith with a 70.

Playing in the varsity competition also were Kayla Van Dyke, who shot a 75, and Kaylee Van Maanen, who had a 98. Lynnville-Sully’s Rebecca Morningstar was the lone junior varsity girls’ golfer and turned in an 86.

The Lynnville-Sully golf squads tee off at 4:15 p.m. Thursday at Keota in a SICL dual.
