COLO — Colfax-Mingo coach Nick Noring is quickly leaving his mark on the Tigerhawk boys golf program.

The Tigerhawks won another meet Tuesday night, shooting a 190 at a tough Twin Anchors Golf Club course. Colfax-Mingo’s win came on the home course of Collins-Maxwell/Baxter and Colo-NESCO, which finished second and third, respectively.

CMB junior Caleb Van Zante won medalist honors to help push the Raiders into second place. Van Zante shot a a personal-best 38, and the Raiders were five shots back of the Tigerhawks with a 195.

“We didn’t win the meet, but there were a lot of positives to take away from the meet, and I’m hoping we can continue to improve in meets,” CMB coach Luke Crouse said.

Colo-NESCO had a 197 in third, led by runner-up medalist Tyler Anthony, who carded a 44.

That was one shot better than Colfax-Mingo senior Mason Mosher, who finished third with a 45.

Tigerhawk senior Jake Jeter was next at 47, while sophomore Jonathan Jacobs carded a 48 and the senior Jacob Buehrer and freshman Ahren Teed both had counting scores of 50.

The Tigerhawks’ only non-counting score came from senior Zevin Lander. He shot a 52.

CMB’s next best golfer after Van Zante was junior Ricky White. White shot a personal-best 49, while freshman Austin Good carded a 53 and senior Nate Bishop had a 55. No. 2 golfer Brevin Johnston did not play due to illness.

Van Zante had two pars and birdied the par 4 No. 5.

“I am really proud of how far he has come this season,” Crouse said of Van Zante. “His hard work is really starting to show and pay off.”

Mosher’s round included three pars. Buehrer had an eagle on the par 4 No. 5.

The Raiders play at 4 p.m. Friday at Roland-Story. They play at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Iowa Falls-Alden. Colfax-Mingo hosts Belle Plaine at 4 p.m. Monday.
