Newton Police Department

• Heather D. Richtsmeier, 29, of Newton, is charged with domestic abuse assault after authorities were called at 6:35 p.m. Thursday to the 900 block of East 12th Street North. Officers were called about a fight and spoke with the victim who said there had been an issue with Richtsmeier, who had left. She returned to the house and began yelling at the victim. She admitted to having a fight with the victim, hitting him in the face. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

• Brandon L. James, 29, of Newton, is charged with interference with official acts and possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities were called at 12:46 a.m. Friday to 1405 N. Walnut St. in Colfax. James was under investigation for driving while suspended and while being searched, he pulled his arm away and walked away. He also resisted being placed in handcuffs. Officers found a glass pipe in his pocket, which he tried to destroy by stepping on it. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Min Z. Jenna, 24, of Moose Lake, Minn., is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and operating while under the influence after authorities pulled over her vehicle at 4:42 p.m. April 12 on Highway 163 in Monroe. Officers found Jenna had been smoking marijuana approximately 30 minutes before being pulled over. They also found a pipe with a burnt leafy substance in it and a bag of marijuana. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
