Sigourney golf teams defeat Lynnville-Sully

LYNNVILLE — Lynnville-Sully’s golf teams came up on the short end of scores in a home South Iowa Cedar League duals with Sigourney Monday at Diamond Trail Golf Course.

The visiting Sigourney girls shot a 217 for the nine-hole dual to Lynnville-Sully’s 251. Sigourney’s Stacy Mohr was the meet medalist with a 46 with teammate Kendall Steigle as runner-up at 54.

One stroke back was the Hawks’ Tessa Van Maanen with a 55. Ida Byggeth finished with a 61 followed by Makyala Smith with a 65 and Kristine Jaenette with a 70.

Also playing in the varisty meet for Lynnville-Sully’s girls were Kaylee Van Maanen carding a 79 and Maddeline Mintle with an 83.

Sigourney’s varsity boys combined for a 170 to Lynnville-Sully’s 208. Kaden Benson, 38, and Jordan Albert, 39, led the Saveges as medalist and runner-up.

The Hawk boys were paced by Caleb Jansen with a 43. Holden Jansen finished with a 51 and Abram Collins shot a 55. Kyle Van Dyke carded a 59.

Other Lynnville-Sully boys’ varsity scores were: Dane Fuchs with a 66 and Cade Dibello with a 70.

In junior varsity girls’ competition, Kaitlyn Barthalomew shot a 73, Kayla Van Dyke had a 75 and Rebecca Morningstar with an 80.

The Hawk boys play at Iowa Valley Thursday in SICL action. Tee time is 4 p.m.

Lynnville-Sully’s boys and girls host HLV Monday at Diamond Trail Golf Course. Tee time is 4:15 p.m.
