Kathryn Vernice Danley, 94, of Prairie City, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center in Johnston. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13 at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Burial will follow at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation for Vernice will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday. A general memorial fund has been established and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of Arthur and Leona (Winegar) Boliver, Vernice was born Oct. 4, 1921, in Runnells. She graduated from Prairie City High School. On March 9, 1941, she married Maurice Danley. Vernice was a lifelong resident of Prairie City. She worked at Look Magazine and CDS Magazine for several years. She was a member of the Prairie City Christian Church, where she held many offices and served as an Elder. She was also a member of the Runnells American Legion Auxiliary, Pithian Sisters and MNO Club.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Deanna (Ronald) Vander Meyden of Des Moines, Michael (Carolyn) Danley of Fort Worth, Texas and Kevin (Betty) Danley of Toddville; grandchildren, Dan (Chen Lie) Vander Meyden, Rhonda (Dayton) Ruckle, Tim (Tami) Danley, Tammy Vernon(Robert), Heather (Steve) Lemke, Matthew (Brooke) Danley, Ryan (Mary) Danley and Kylie (Skyler) Anholt; and great-grandchildren, Sophie Vander Meyden, Drew Ruckle, Jacqueline Henry, Joshua Henry, Taylor Vernon, Sydney Vernon, Alyssia Danley, Cale Danley, McKenna Lemke, Kolton Lemke, Savannah Tuttrup, JJ Haverland, Gracey Haverland, Izabella Danley, Landyn Danley and Jacksyn Danley. Also surviving is a sister, Evelyn Wagner of Prairie City; many cousins; and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; and two brothers, Gerald and Eldred Boliver; and granddaughter, Rita Vander Meyden.
