The son of Charles Paul and Kathryn Ruth (Dickerson) Hewitt, Tod was born July 2, 1968, in Newton. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1986 and worked at Maytag and then Trinity Structural Towers in Newton. Tod was united in marriage to Carmen Marie Provenzano in Knoxville. Though they settled in Pella, Tod remained very close to his parents. An avid outdoorsman, he passed his love for nature on to his children and nieces and nephews. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, dirt biking, camping and hunting for mushrooms.

Tod’s pride and joy was his family; his wife, Carmen; their two children, Alexis Marie and Avery Charles; his parents, Charles and Kathy Hewitt; sisters, Paula (Gale) Perrin and Gloria (Eric) Reed; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and twenty aunts and uncles.
