• Tyree D. Moore, 36, of Davenport, is charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness after authorities were called at 10:57 p.m. Tuesday to the 800 block of South 13th Avenue East. Officers were called about a domestic assault and upon arrival, heard a man yelling inside the residence. Officers made contact with Moore and the victim. Moore said they had only been in a verbal fight but the victim said he had choked her. Moore said he had pushed the victim away and had been scratched in the face by the victim. The victim admitted to scratching Moore in self defense. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Sherri S. Smith, 47, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called at 7 a.m. Jan. 28 to 1200 W. 18th St. S. Officers were called to Casey’s about a theft. They spoke with the store manager who said an employee, identified as Smith, was stealing from the cash register. The manager said she took between $60 and $80 Jan. 2 and put it in her pocket. Also, on Jan. 28 Smith is accused of taking $140, which she counted on top of the cash register then hid it under a red box where she later retrieved it and put it in her pocket. The manager had video evidence of the incidences. When being arrested she told a roommate that she took money from the cash register and is why she was being arrested. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
