We did it!

We did it. We made it a whole week without my husband and everyone survived — even our fish.

I have to say, for the most part every thing went smooth. My parents and niece helped out with watching the girls and my sister jumped in when there was an illness and my oldest needed a ride to school in the middle of the day. Through piecing things together and going with the flow, we did it.

I had plans for the weekend to keep the girls busy in the final days of their dad being gone. On Friday night, they stayed with Tony’s parents and gave me a night to catch up on crafts and plan for my upcoming shows. I also took a little time to visit my friend who just had a baby and bring some goodies for the new little guy.

After I had sewn more than 100 burp clothes and worked on a pattern for new bibs, I headed to Pella to visit my new great nephew who was born on Friday. Yes, you did read that right, my great nephew, which makes me a great aunt at the old age of 31.

I left the hospital after cuddling for about an hour and picked up the girls. They were balls of energy and ready to go to the “trampoline store” otherwise known as Sky Zone in Des Moines. Since our reservations weren’t for a few hours, we had some time to kill at home, which was painful for my oldest.

At about 3 p.m. we headed to Des Moines amid great excitement for our hour of jumping fun. Sky Zone was painfully busy with kids running all over, and the noise level reaching that of a rock concert.

We stood in line to check in, received our special socks, then waited again for our 4:30 jump time. I am glad I scheduled their time on the kids court, which was perfect for the little ones.

I didn’t know if they would last a whole hour jumping, but they proved to have the energy and then some. My brother, his wife and my nieces had come to jump with us, but the session was sold out. Following the girls jump time, they sent me a message they were going to another indoor inflatable activity center called Pump It Up.

We decided to meet them so the kiddos could play together, which also meant an additional hour of jumping and playing. The girls had a blast running, jumping, climbing and sliding.

After two solid hours of play, I thought they had to be pooped. We left to get dinner and stop by Target for a few groceries, then made our way home at about 8. I thought they would for sure fall asleep after such a big day. I had no such luck and the girls were ready to go when we got home.

With jammies on the girls headed to bed and at least a little bit early, fell asleep, leaving me to continue with my crafts until I headed to bed. My husband returned the next day, much to the girls’ excitement and now we are getting back into the normal crazy routine.
