PELLA — Newton’s eighth-grade boys played three basketball games Monday, losing all three to host Pella.
In the A-team game, Pella posted a 51-39 win over the Cardinals. Kyle Long led Newton with 16 points.
Taylor Danley added five points. Scoring four points each were Julian Hotckin and Quintrail Coley.
Newton dropped a 33-17 decision to Pella in the B-team contest. Clay Meyer tossed in four points for Newton while Camden Winther and Eli Ingle had three points apiece. Jake Herbold scored two points.
The closest game of the night was the C-team game with Pella outlasting Newton, 29-22.
Michael Kruse topped the Newton scoring list with nine points. Justin Cupples tossed in six and Carter Vanderscheal had three points.
