Helen Stevens

Helen L. (King) Stevens passed away peacefully in Altoona Nov. 9, 2015, at the age of 85.

Helen was born to the late Lloyd and Nellie King. She married her sweetheart, Dale Stevens in 1947. The couple lived in Newton, where Helen enjoyed working at the bank and junior high school as well as having her own gift shop prior to helping her husband establish Dale D. Stevens Homebuilders, Inc.

Helen is survived by her children, Kevin (Paula) Stevens of Robins, Kurtis (Lindy) Stevens of Valrico, Fla., and Kimberly (Blaine) Kussatz of Runnells; four cherished grandchildren, Christopher Stevens, David Stevens, Katlyn Stevens and Nikolle Kussatz. Additionally, Helen is survived by two sisters, Shirley Ross of Tucson, Ariz., and Joyce Bowen of Centerville.

Helen was preceded in death by Dale, her beloved husband of 48 years; her parents, Lloyd and Nellie King; brother, Bobby King; and sisters, Carol Spurgeon and Geraldine King.

Helen enjoyed spending time with family, traveling and most importantly, volunteering her time to help others. Through her faith in Jesus Christ, she was an inspiration to everyone she met and she strived to live each day with a joyous and thankful heart, always encouraging others.

Per her request, a private family service will take place at a later date.
