Newton Police Department

• Joel N. Sturkie, 25, of Newton, was arrested on a Cedar Rapids warrant after authorities were called at 10 p.m. Friday to 109 W. Ninth St. N. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Adadi Kamulete, 27, of Boise, Idaho, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled him over at 10:44 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of North 19th Avenue West. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jonas R. Henderson, 38, of Newton, is charged with domestic abuse assault and harassment after authorities were called at 5:50 a.m. Sunday to Skiff Medical Center. Officers were called about a domestic assault. The victim alleged Henderson had strangled her while she was laying in bed. The victim said she did not feel safe calling 911 at home so she walked to Skiff to contact law enforcement. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Joseph K. Reusswig, 38, of Newton, is charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness after authorities were called at 10:46 p.m. Saturday to 1803 First Ave. E. Officers were called about an assault and spoke with the victim who alleged that he had been punched and thrown to the ground by Reusswig. The victim had a bloody lump above his left eye and scrapes on his elbows. Witnesses said that Reusswig punched the victim at least four times. Reusswig alleged the victim jumped him and he was defending himself. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Bion B. Ingram, 38, of Chariton, is charged with possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities were called at 6:39 a.m. Friday to the 800 block of Highway 14 North. Officers stopped a vehicle because of a reckless driving complaint and found Ingram. Officers found a glass pipe containing white residue and a crystal substance in a plastic bag found to be methamphetamine while searching the vehicle. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Dylan S. Plumb, 21, of Newton, is charged with operating while under the influence after authorities were called at 11:52 p.m. Thursday to the 1500 block of South 12th Avenue West. Officers saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and after making contact with the driver, Plumb, officers found him to be fidgety and anxious. Plumb admitted to speeding and later admitted to smoking marijuana two days earlier. He was cited and released to appear.

• A 16-year-old juvenile is charged with eluding and possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities were called at 6:53 p.m. Saturday to the intersection of North 15th Avenue West and West Fourth Street North. Officers attempted to pull over a vehicle when it ran a stop sign and entered an area with heavy pedestrian traffic. Several minutes later, officers found the vehicle and pulled it over. The juvenile apologized for running and said he panicked. Officers found a marijuana pipe and grinder in the vehicle. He was cited and released to appear.

• Micheal D. Chaney, 28, of Baxter, is charged with operating while under the influence after authorities were called at 1:51 p.m. Oct. 19 to the 500 block of East 20th Street South. Chaney was found to be intoxicated and driving in a reckless manner. Witnesses said they tried to stop Chaney leaving but he exited the driveway and proceeded to drive at high speeds. When approaching a stop sign, he tried to stop but was traveling too fast and jumped the curb entering the yard at 1907 S. Seventh Ave. E. He then crashed into the front of a house causing major damage to the front porch, foundation and gas meter. Chaney then backed out into the road and drove north on East 20th Street South where he slid around a corner, almost hitting two parked cars. He proceeded back to the original residence and tried to park in the garage to avoid detection. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
