• Charles S. Vaughn, 50, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to Skiff Medical Center at 4:20 p.m. Sept. 21. Officers were shown a video where Vaughn left the property with a wheelchair. After speaking with Vaughn, the wheelchair was located. He said he did not have a vehicle and could not walk when leaving. He said he intended to return it. He was cited and released to appear.

• Randall C. Mikesell, 35, of Newton, is charged with carrying weapons, two counts of fifth-degree theft and simple misdemeanor trespass after authorities were called to Kum & Go at 12:51 p.m. Thursday. Officers were called about a fight and found Mikesell in the alley south of the business. While patting him down, officers found a large military style knife with a seven inch blade. Another person identified Mikesell as the man who had just stolen a chicken sandwich from his truck. Employees said that Mikesell also stole a Blue Mountain Dew worth $1.98. The employee also said Mikesell had criminally trespassed the store during a previous incident. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• A 17-year-old juvenile is charged with possession of controlled substance after authorities were called to the 1800 block of West Fourth Street North at 5:11 p.m. Friday. Officers were speaking with the juvenile when they smelled marijuana. The juvenile produced a baggie of marijuana from her pocket. It weighed approximately 1.6 grams. She was cited and released to appear.
