Newton man charged in drug task force arrest

A Newton man faces several charges, including possession with intent to deliver more than 5 grams of methamphetamine after a drug search was conducted by the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force on Sunday.

Chad E. Berry, 33, is also charged with carrying a concealed firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia and failing to affix a drug tax stamp after authorities searched him in the 300 block of North Second Avenue West.

Officers from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and Newton Police Department executed the drug search warrant on Berry, who was then taken to the Jasper County Jail where he is being held without bond.

The Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force is based in Des Moines and includes the Jasper, Mahaska and Marion County Sheriff’s Offices and Knoxville, Newton and Pella Police Departments.
