Johnson County advances minimum-wage proposal

IOWA CITY — A proposal to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 in Johnson County has passed its first formal test.

The county Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the proposal on Thursday. The measure requires two more votes of approval to take effect. It would increase the county’s minimum wage to $10.10 an hour by January 2017 in three increments of 95 cents. It also would link future increases to the Consumer Price Index.Supervisors have been debating the issue since July.
