WATERLOO — A $2.6 million whitewater park and kayak course has been proposed along the east bank of the Cedar River in downtown Waterloo. Plans for a whitewater park was unveiled this week to city officials by an engineering firm retained by the Waterloo Development Corp. The park would be developed along an 80-foot-wide strip on the east side of the river and be accessible to the general public.
Officials say the park would be open to tubing and various non-motorized personal craft or floats.
Waterloo Mayor Buck Clark, who is not seeking re-election, said the water park will be a priority for the rest of his term.
