• Dakota R. Mindham, 21, of Newton, is charged with consumption/intoxication in public places after authorities were called to 308 E. Eighth St. S. at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. Officers were called about an unwanted guest and found Mindham. He smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and had a BAC of .183. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jarin J. Stoker, 38 of Newton, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of controlled substance marijuana and meth after authorities pulled him over in the 3000 block of North Fourth Avenue East at 10:54 p.m. Wednesday. Officers saw a vehicle in the parking lot at Agnes Patterson Park and found Stoker. Officers smelled marijuana and saw a pipe in the center console. He also admitted that there was marijuana in the truck and after searching officers found two baggies with meth in them. He was cited and released to appear.

• Drew W. Cooper, 18, of Grinnell, is charged with unsafe backing after authorities were called to the 100 block of West Second Street North at 6:08 p.m. Wednesday. Jason Ray was stopped at a stoplight when Cooper began backing out of his parking spot, hitting his vehicle on the rear bumper on Ray’s vehicle’s rear passenger side tire and middle panel. Cooper admitted to being on his phone but said Ray was in his blind spot. Ray said he tried to get out of the way and honked. Ray had approximately $700 in damage and Cooper had approximately $600 in damage. He was cited and released to appear.

• Joseph A. Howell, 20, of Newton, was arrested on a Butler County warrant for probation violation after authorities were called to the adult probation office at 9:41 a.m. Wednesday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jan R. Roseland, 45, of Newton, is charged with simple misdemeanor assault after authorities were called to Kum & Go at 12:03 p.m. Wednesday. The victim claimed Roseland came up to her and began yelling at her before shoving her into a van. She was cited and released to appear.

• Darcy L. Ryan, 20, of Bettendorf, is charged with failure to maintain control after authorities were called to Interstate 80 at 3:15 p.m. Thursday. Ryan was driving and went to change lanes when she saw someone on her blind spot and swerved, then lost control of her vehicle and went into the median. She crossed the median and hit the guardrail before entering into the westbound lanes. Her vehicle was then hit by Brian Mills. Mills said that he could smell marijuana in Ryan’s vehicle. Mills had approximately $5,000 in damage and Ryan had approximately $600 in damage. She was cited and released to appear.

• Melissa R. Miller, 33, of Newton, is charged with operating while under the influence after authorities were called to 1711 S. Fourth Ave. E. at 10:57 p.m. Friday. Officers were called about a woman yelling, honking her horn and playing her music very loud. Officers found Miller who smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and poor balance. She had a BAC of .206. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Paul D. Howard, 38, of Omaha, Neb., is charged with operating while under the influence and possession of controlled substance after authorities pulled him over in the 1200 block of First Avenue East at 11:49 p.m. Saturday. Officers spoke with Howard who had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and smelled strongly of alcohol. He admitted to drinking two beers and had a BAC of .184. While searching his vehicle officers also found a glass jar with marijuana in it. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Nicholas R. Sutton, 46, of Newton, is charged with striking unattended vehicle failure to provide information after authorities were called to 807 E. 12th St. Place N. at 12:13 p.m. Saturday. Sutton backed his vehicle out and hit Linda McVay’s vehicle, then left the scene. McVay had approximately $600 in damage and Sutton had approximately $300 in damage. He was cited and released to appear.
