Skinner gives to church

The Mingo United Methodist Church recently received a valuable and loving gift from the estate of the late Norma Skinner — 141 acres of farmland. Church trustees Rodney Altes, Bob Leonard and Luann Heffelfinger receive the deed from executor of the estate Mark Otto.

Norma and Charles (Chuck) Skinner were married in 1945 while he was serving in the Navy during World War II. They began farming after that — first in the Mitchellville area before moving to Mingo where they purchased the land from Eldon Geisler which is the gifted land she recently left to the Mingo United Methodist Church.

Chuck and Norma were active members of the Mingo United Methodist Church until he retired in 1990, and they then purchased a home in Mitchellville. Chuck passed away in 1991. Norma continued to enjoy visiting the church and attending special occasions.

The income from the farmland will be used to maintain and improve the land, new equipment for congregation and classrooms and improvement projects of the church.
