Puppy mills — a red flag to all Iowans

Thank you for covering this issue. I think this would be a red flag to all Iowans. Not only those who care about the poor dogs and their horrific living conditions, but anyone who has a home, raises a family or invests in a future here. We all know a great deal of our economy depends on Iowa agriculture. Rural Iowans have prided themselves on quality agriculture for many years. These puppy mills and their deplorable conditions make rural Iowan’s appear barbaric. As Iowans, we know better. But if we continue to ignore this kind of “business” and allow them to thrive here, it will eventually affect our lives in negative ways.

The FBI knows that people who abuse animals are a threat to our society.

It is the duty of our lawmakers to protect the good of us all by creating and enforcing laws that shut the doors of such facilities. If our current laws allow them to continue to thrive, the laws are failing us, the lawmakers are failing us and we as voting citizens are the only ones who can change that.

I plan to get involved in the work to find a solution and will vote accordingly.
