13 BMS science students earn honors at ISU competition

All 13 of the Berg Middle School science students who competed in an April 9 roller-coaster competition at Iowa State University in Ames came home with some type of honor.

The 15th annual competition was hosted by the Iowa Alpha Chapter in ISU’s Sukup Hall.

Berg students Rachel Rhoads, Matt Moran, Ty Arguello, Luke Maharry and Lakin Jenkins were on a team that earned honorable mention for “Excellence in Theme.”

Parker Creech, Tyra Lambertus, Bailey Van Sickle and Makayla Kelleher combined to earn third place overall in the middle school division.

Dune Carter, Isaac Friedman, Daniel Lopez-Sanders and Nathan Simon teamed up to earn third place in the overall division.

Eighth-grade science teacher Andrew Kuker and BMS principal Scott Bauer accompanied the group to Ames.
