Cardinal boys take on district-type competition

NORWALK — On a windy, cool day, there weren’t any personal-best performances turned in by Newton High’s boys at Monday’s Norwalk Boys Invitational track meet.

Newton boys’ head coach Tom Bartello wasn’t disappointed considering the weather.

“This meet had competition similar to our district meet,” he said. “It gave us an idea of where we’re at as individuals and as a team as well as what we need to work on to prepare for the district meet.”

Newton scored 34 points, finishing eighth. Urbandale tallied 133 points for first place. The top eight finishers in each event scored team points.
