AMES — Authorities say a man has been treated at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames for what a witness says was a self-inflicted gunshot.
Ames police say officers were sent to an apartment building a little before 7 p.m. Monday to check on a report of gunshots. They found only a bloody trail from one of the apartments. Police soon learned about a man with a wounded hand at the hospital. He was identified as 21-year-old Yuli Ge, who refused to speak to officers.
