WATERLOO — Police have arrested a 19-year-old woman on suspicion of setting a house on fire and stabbing its occupant.
Police said the woman attempted to burn down Antoniette Smith’s home Friday afternoon, then returned to the house and stabbed the woman. The 19-year-old faces first-degree arson and willful injury charges. Police say neighbors called 911 after seeing a woman behind Smith’s house, then spotting smoke coming from it. Crews put out the fire, but hours later, police were called back to the home after Smith was stabbed.
Smith was taken to a hospital with minor arm and leg injuries.
