Ohio State tops No. 14 Iowa 91-85 in B1G semifinals

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (AP) — Kelsey Mitchell scored 29 points for the second night in a row, Alexa Hart added 24 and the Ohio State women topped No. 14 Iowa 91-85 in overtime to advance to the Big Ten Conference tournament final.

The Buckeyes (23-10) lost to top-seeded Maryland, 77-74, in Sunday’s championship game.

The No. 4 Terrapins (30-2) went 18-0 in conference play, too.

In overtime, Whitney Jennings made a pair of free throws with 42 seconds left to draw Iowa to within one point. But on the next possession, Mitchell nailed a 3-pointer with 14 seconds left to make it a four-point game.

Jennings missed from the inside on the next trip down, and Mitchell made two free throws to seal it.

Melissa Dixon had 22 points and Doolittle finished with 21 for Iowa (24-7).

Iowa 74,

Nebraska 65

Ally Disterhoft led a balanced attack with 16 points and No. 14 Iowa, the second-seed, turned back seventh-seeded Nebraska 74-65 in the quarterfinals Friday.

Samantha Logic and Doolittle added 15 points and Kali Peschel had 13 off the bench for the Hawkeyes.

Tear’a Laudermill led the Cornhuskers with 16 points, Emily Cady added 15 and Natalie Romeo and Brandi Jeffery had 14 each.
