Tigerhawks suffer three losses at Pella quad

PELLA — For most of the season, Richard Blom has been one of the bright spots for the Colfax-Mingo wrestling team.

Blom won three more matches at the quadrangular in Pella on Thursday, but the Tigerhawks lost three duals as a team.

Colfax-Mingo lost 42-21 to Nevada, 48-21 to the host Dutch and 62-9 to Dallas Center-Grimes.

Blom went 3-0 on the night with a pin and two decisions at 138.

Colton Lourens also won twice, once by fall, and Ty Carlson got his hand raised twice.

Forfeits again plagued the Tigerhawks. There were three double forfeits in the match against Nevada, but the Cubs also took forfeits at four other weights.

Ben Mead won by forfeit at 285 for C-M, while Lourens (145) and Carlson (113) won by fall and Blom won 7-0.

Against Pella, the Dutch took control by winning seven straight matches (four by forfeit, three by fall).

Blom and Adam Teed (120) each won by fall, while Carlson took a forfeit and Lourens won 5-4.

The Tigerhawks surrendered six forfeits to Dallas Center-Grimes and the Mustangs also scored three pins. Blom’s 3-1 win and Jake Dunsbergen’s forfeit victory at 182 were the only two bouts won by the Tigerhawks.
