Raiders go winless at SH-BCLUW Dual Tournament

CONRAD — The Collins-Maxwell/Baxter wrestling team suffered 24 losses by fall in its four duals at the South Hardin-BCLUW Dual Tournament on Saturday.

As a result, the Raiders went winless in those four bouts and finished in seventh place overall.

Logan Mitchell went 3-1 at 195 pounds and Archer McFadden was 3-1 at heavyweight, but CMB lost to Iowa Falls-Alden 67-9, Mason City Newman 44-30, Pocahontas Area 64-15 and to host SH-BCLUW 52-21.

Tate Ewing (113), Frank Sposeto (120) and Evan Bianchi (152) went 2-2 on the day, but the losses by fall and forfeiting two weights in each dual plagued the Raiders.

Official team results and standings for the tournament were incomplete on trackwrestling.com at press time.

The only two wins CMB got against Iowa Falls-Alden was a pin from Mitchell and a 14-12 decision by Sposeto against Darin Lemke. IF-A recorded eight pins and one major decision in the dual.

Mason City Newman got out to a 24-3 lead over CMB and held on after a Raiders’ rally. Mitchell, McFadden, Ewing and Blake Coughenour all won by fall, while Bianchi won a 4-3 decision and Sposeto won his match 3-0.

The Raiders won three matches against Pocahontas Area. Mitchell and McFadden each won by fall and Bianchi won his bout by a 6-0 decision.

Mitchell and McFadden recorded pins in all three of their wins.

Pocahontas Area won the final six contested matches of the dual after taking a forfeit win at 106.

The Storm got out to a 19-0 lead against CMB. McFadden won another match by pin, Ethan Cozad scored a 7-4 decision and Ewing and Jake Hennick each took forfeit victories.

The Raiders are next in action Thursday when they travel to Roland-Story to face the Norsemen and South Hamilton in a Heart of Iowa Athletic Conference triangular.

The duals begin at 6 p.m.
