The Jasper County Farm Bureau and the Jasper County Iowa State University Extension Office are presenting a free succession planning workshop on Jan. 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the Newton Des Moines Area Community College campus.
Light refreshments will be provided.
The workshop is for farmers who are just starting out, looking to strengthen their operations or want to ensure a smooth passage to the next generation. It’s open to all ages and experience levels.
The Farm Bureau’s Nathan Katzer and Jared Schmidt of Farm Financial Strategies will help examine the current operations. Discussion will include strategies to grow business and secure farm assets for future generations, and will address real-life examples and assumptions that often aren’t shared prior to transition.
