• Elizabeth L. Reibsamen, 33, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to Walmart at 5:57 p.m. Monday. Officers spoke with employees who said Reibsamen checked out of the self checkout lane with $111.89 in paid goods, then after exiting the doors bagged up an additional $118.87 in goods. She said she thought it just fell out of the sack and that she had paid for it. She was cited and released to appear.

• James D. Jenkins, 26, of Newton, is charged with public intoxications after authorities were called to 709 W. Third St. S. at 10:29 a.m. Monday. Officers found Jenkins laying in a laundry room with a half empty bottle of alcohol next of him. He smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot, watery eyes. He admitted to drinking. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jennifer B. Houston, 43, of Newton, is charged with driving while license under suspension after authorities pulled her over in the 200 block of South Third Avenue West at 1:19 p.m. Monday. Houston was unable to give any insurance information or vehicle registration and also had a suspended license. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Astrid J. Brown, 31, of Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County warrant after authorities were called to 1312 E. Sixth St. S. at 2:49 p.m. Dec. 17. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Gowi I. Koj, 34, of Newton, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled him over in the 100 block of East 14th Street North at 11:32 p.m. Sunday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Dominic T. Vasquez, 33, of Newton, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled him over in the 2300 block of Law Center Drive at 8 a.m. Saturday. He was pulled over for having a headlight out. He was cited and released to appear.

• Joseph K. Reusswig, 37, of Newton, is charged with simple misdemeanor assault after authorities were called to the 900 block of East Eighth Street South at 3:20 p.m. Dec. 18. On Dec. 14, Reusswig confronted the victim for squealing tires. He allegedly poked the victim in the eye causing some redness and swelling. He was cited and released to appear.

• A 16-year-old juvenile is charged with fourth-degree theft after authorities were called to Hy-Vee at 5:02 p.m. Dec. 17. Officers spoke with an employee who said the juvenile took a KitchenAid mixer, valued at $249.99, out of the store without paying for it, placing it in a van, then running away. He admitted to taking it and was not planning on paying for it. He was cited and released to appear.

• A 14-year-old juvenile is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to Dollar General at 8:04 p.m. Sunday. Officers spoke with an employee who said the juvenile attempted to leave with $57.51 in items without paying for them. She was charged and released to appear.

• Nikki Oartwieg, 37, of Newton, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled her over in the 1200 block of East 15th St. S. at 4:11 p.m. Dec. 19. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Kayla H. Cockerton, 20, of Newton, is charged with driving while license under suspension after authorities pulled her over in the 1200 block of South 13th Avenue East at 3:01 p.m. Dec. 20. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Billie S. Montgomery, 53, of Newton, is charged with following too close after authorities were called to the intersection of West 12th Street South and South 12th Avenue West at 1:03 p.m. Dec. 19. Larry Plumb was traveling east when he was rear-ended by Montgomery. Plumb had approximately $500 in damage while Montgomery had approximately $700. She was cited and release to appear.
