Download eBooks Class

At 6 p.m. Monday stop by the library meeting room to learn to download eBooks or audiobooks to your mobile devices before the holidays! Bring along your smart phone or tablet and library card to learn how to download eBooks and Audiobooks through Wilbor and the Overdrive Media Console App. No registration needed.

Library Holiday Hours

The Library will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Normal hours resume on Friday, opening at 10 a.m. The library will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and be closed all day on Jan. 1 for the New Year. Normal hours resume on Jan. 2, opening at 10 a.m. Have a safe and happy holiday!

Read While You Drive

The library has many Audiobooks for you to check out. Get your reading in while driving home for the holidays! Each patron is allowed up to three audiobooks at a time.

Display Case Reservations

The library is now taking reservations for our display cases for the year of 2015 (reservations are for one month’s time). The library has two display cases, the Lobby and the Memorial Display Case located inside the library. The Lobby is open to non-profit groups and organizations to share their information. The Memorial Display case is for individuals wishing to showcase their collections. To reserve a display case, call Nicole Lindstrom at 641-792-4108.

New Library Cards

It is your last chance to get our new library cards for free! Stop in and pick up your card before Jan. 1. The new design allows patrons to put a card on their key chain and carry one in their wallet/purse! All old library cards will still be usable and no one will be required to get a new card.

Homebound Reader Service

The library offers access to library materials to persons unable to visit the library in person because of illness, injury, mobility or disability. The library will match the homebound individual with a volunteer who will deliver books for patrons within city limits of Newton, or a family member may be designated for those outside of Newton city limits. Homebound readers will be able to check out books, Audiobooks, and magazines. If you would like to apply for Homebound Reader service call the Information Desk at 641-792-4108 to request an application be mailed to you. Questions or want to volunteer? Contact Nicole Lindstrom, Public Services Librarian, at the number listed above.

Free MP3 and iTunes Music Downloads

Download and own songs from the extensive Freegal database! Up to three songs per week, or one song and a music video. Every Monday, three new downloads will again be available with your library card. Go to www.freegalmucsic.com and log in with your up-to-date library card to explore the 7 million songs from 28,000 recording labels. You can also get the app for your mobile device. Need help? Call the Information Desk, 641-792-4108.

Update your Library Cards

Before the holidays, it may be smart to update your library cards and pay off any fines you have accrued. Updating your card will ensure your use of Wilbor, Freegal and other offsite library services. The last thing you want is to try to download a book over holiday breaks and be unable to.
