The Iowa Soybean Association will host its 50th anniversary celebration and the third annual ISA Symposium and Recognition Award Banquet from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at the Embassy Suites in Des Moines.

The ISA 50th anniversary reception will occur from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. followed by the banquet, awards and entertainment from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Christmas concert featuring Tonic Sol-Fa A Cappella.

In 1964, the Iowa Soybean Association was founded. That same year, Iowa soybean farmers grew an average of 30 bushels per acre. The 121-million-bushel crop was worth $311.5 million.

This year, Iowa farmers are expected to harvest more than 500 million bushels of soybeans, or an average of 51 bushels per acre. Farmers may also exceed the value of last year’s crop, nearly $5.3 billion.
