M. Patricia “Pat” Bates, 92, died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 20, 2014, at Park Centre Health Care in Newton. A funeral service for Pat was Monday, Nov. 24 at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Pat’s name are being designated to the First United Methodist Church or Kellogg Historical Society and may be left at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home.
Pat, the daughter of Stephen and Ann (Beggs) Burrows, was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. On April 17, 1983, Pat was united in marriage with Hugh Elmer Bates in Edmonds, Wash.
