Iowa judge agrees to move man’s murder trial

SAC CITY — A judge has agreed to move the first-degree murder trial of a Georgia man charged in the death of his former roommate in Iowa.

John Green’s trial will be moved from Sac City to Fort Dodge in Webster County. The trial is set for Dec. 8.

Green’s public defender had argued that pretrial publicity would make it impossible for Green to receive a fair trial in Sac County. Green is accused of killing 58-year-old Mark Koster, of Sac City. Koster’s skeletal remains were found buried in the basement of his house in 2012.

Police say Green briefly lived with Koster in 2009. Relatives say they last saw Koster that year. He was reported missing in 2010.

Green was arrested in Florida in March.
