Diane F. Kennelley, 70, of the Rock Creek neighborhood near Kellogg, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, at her home. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Keith Morrison, chaplain of Grinnell Regional Hospice, officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Should friends desire, memorials may be directed to Grinnell Regional Hospice and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112.

Diane was born Aug. 20, 1944, in Jonesboro, Ark., to Harry and Gertrude Irish Folk. The family moved to Waterloo and she graduated from Waterloo East High School.

On Aug. 5, 1962, she was married to Richard Kennelley in Benton Harbor, Mich. The couple lived in California, Hawaii and Connecticut while Richard served with the U.S. Navy. Diane was a homemaker and worked part-time as a secretary and book keeper in her church. They lived in Newton from 1993 to 1999, and later relocated to Rock Creek Lake near Kellogg. Diane enjoyed writing poetry, sewing clothing for her family, crocheting and cooking. She loved decorating and maintaining her home, singing in the church choir and playing both the piano and organ at church.

Survivors include her husband, Richard; one daughter, Peggy (Bob Sartwell) Kennelley of Pasadena, Md.; five grandchildren, Timothy Dutton, Dan Sartwell, Kelly Sartwell, Matthew Branche and Ashley Dutton; two great-grandsons, Avene Baker and Ryan Sartwell; and one brother, Donald Folk of Camp Verde, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one daughter, Tammy Faye Kennelley.
