• Terry L. Wilfawn, 25, of Newton, is charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness after authorities were called to 604 E. Third St. S. at 12:04 p.m. Wednesday. Officers arrived and spoke with the victim who said that Wilfawn had pushed her down. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jerad M. McGinley, 25, is charged with third-degree burglary after authorities were called to 524 S. Fourth Ave. E. at 1:17 a.m. Wednesday. Officers found McGinley at the apartment along with two others. The property manager told officers that the apartment was to be vacant and the door was screwed shut. Officers found the door had been kicked in. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Christopher B. Hasselbrink, 22, is charged with third-degree burglary after authorities were called to 524 S. Fourth Ave. E. at 1:17 a.m. Wednesday. Officers found Hasselbrink at the apartment along with two others. The property manager told officers that the apartment was to be vacant and the door was screwed shut. Officers found the door had been kicked in. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• A 16-year-old juvenile, is charged with third-degree burglary and unlawful possession of prescription drug after authorities were called to 524 S. Fourth Ave. E. at 1:17 a.m. Wednesday. Officers found the juvenile at the apartment along with two others. The property manager told officers that the apartment was to be vacant and the door was screwed shut. Officers found the door had been kicked in. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Donnie W. Ringgenberg, 45, of Newton, is charged with contempt - violation of no contact/protective order after authorities were called to the intersection of East 19th Street North and North 11th Avenue East at 5:10 p.m. Oct. 3. Officers were told by the victim that Ringgenberg had seen the victim driving and turned around, passed the victim and then slammed on his brakes. He also rolled down his window and yelled something. Ringgenberg admitted that he knew the victim was in the other vehicle. Ringgenberg was located on Wednesday, charged and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Mary A. Flattery, 87, of Newton, is charged with failure to yield upon entering through highway after authorities were called to the intersection of Highway 14 and South 12th Avenue West at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday. George B. Duren was traveling north through an intersection on Highway 14 when Flattery, who was turning right, hit the passenger side of Duren’s vehicle. Approximately $3,000 in damage was sustained to both vehicles. She was cited and released to appear.

• Adrien L. Fowler, 56, of Newton, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled her over at 1004 N. Fifth Ave. E. at 7:57 p.m. Tuesday. Officers knew that the driver, Fowler, had a suspended license when pulling her over. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Craig A. Bresnahan, 35, of Knoxville is charged with probation violation after authorities were called to the Adult Probation Office at 2:27 p.m. Wednesday. Bresnahan had a Department of Corrections warrant. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Sherri S. Smith, 46, of Newton, is charged with fifth degree theft and unlawful possession of prescription drug after authorities were called to Hy-Vee at 1:43 p.m. Thursday. Officers spoke with employees who said the saw Smith taken several items off the shelf, put them in her backpack and tried to leave the store with them. The items totaled $37.27. Officers also found a prescription pill bottle that was not prescribed to Smith. She was cited and released to appear.

• Randy G. Dickerson Jr., 28, of Newton, is charged with public intoxication after authorities were called to 213 E. Fourth St. S. at 1:17 a.m. Thursday. Officers arrived after receiving two incomplete 911 calls from Dickerson. Dickerson was at the house and began walking outside on to the street. Officers observed bloodshot, watery eyes on Dickerson. Officers told Dickerson to go back to the house when he yelled “public intox take me to jail”. . Dickerson would not cooperate with any sobriety tests. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jacob R. Stengele, 20, of Newton, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and fifth degree criminal mischief after authorities observed Stengele at the intersection of West Fourth Street South and South Fifth Avenue West at 12:05 p.m. Thursday. Officers observed Stengele writing CRIP on a stop sign. When asked Stengele said it was already on there and that he was just messing around and acting like he was writing it. Officers found a blue marker that matched the writing on Stengele as well as a glass pot pipe with marijuana residue in it. He was cited and released to appear.

• Sandra J. Cupples, 58, of Newton, is charged with fifth degree theft after authorities were called to Wal-Mart at 10:48 a.m. Wednesday. Officers spoke with the loss control agent who saw Cupples try to conceal numerous packages of meat and then try to leave without paying for it. The total value of the items was $170.35. She was cited and released to appear.

• Kurtis R. Peterson, 53, of Newton, is charged with third degree burglary after authorities were called to 321 W. Third St. S. at 6:07 p.m. Wednesday. Officers arrived and saw Peterson through a basement window. Peterson said that he entered the building to take a wooden wagon from the basement that did not belong to him. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jorge A. Flores-Estrada, 27, of Des Moines, was arrested on a Jasper County Warrant for probation violation after authorities were called to the adult probation office at 3:27 p.m. Friday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Tiffany N. Jones, 24, of Newton, is charged with fifth degree theft after authorities were called to Wal-Mart at 10:41 a.m. Friday. Officers spoke with the loss control agent who saw Jones take merchandise and try to leave the store without paying. The total value was $43.32. She was cited and released to appear.

• A 7-year-old juvenile is charged with assault after authorities were called to Berg Elementary School at noon Sept.r 4. The juvenile became combative and violent, striking and kicking the victim. He also bit the victim, leaving a visible mark and breaking the skin in some places. He was released to a parent/guardian.

• A 15-year-old juvenile is charged with assault after authorities were called to Emerson Hough School at 8:15 a.m. Sept. 23. Officers spoke with the victim who said the juvenile poured coffee on him after having a disagreement. The juvenile said that he did it on purpose and that he didn’t care that he was being charged. He was released to a parent/guardian.

• Romone R. Jackson, 31, of Newton, is charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon after authorities were called to 202 E. 14th St. N. at 10:15 a.m. Sunday. Officers found Jackson who said that he stopped his vehicle where an altercation occurred and armed himself with a bat. He did not injure with the bat. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Tyler A. Lappin, 29, of Newton, is charged with public intoxication after authorities were called to the Manhattan Bar at 11:24 p.m. Thursday. Officers found Lappin in the 400 block of South Third Avenue East after he ran out of the bar. He smelled of alcohol and had blood-shot eyes and was slurring his words. He denied being involved in any altercations but could not say where he came from. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• A 17-year-old juvenile is charged with consumption/intoxication in public places and possession under age eighteen after authorities were called to the 1100 block of First Street North at 6:04 a.m. Thursday. Officers found the juvenile unable to walk in a straight line and after telling him several times to stop, approached him. After approaching him, he attempted to drink the beer he was holding and asked if he could finish it. He smelled strongly of alcohol and seemed extremely of intoxicated. After searching his backpack, officers found three more cans of beer. He was cited and released to appear.

• Shirley M. Modlin, 77, of Newton, is charged with failure to obey stop sign and yield right of way after authorities were called to the intersection of South Seventh Avenue East and East 20th Street South after 3:47 p.m. Friday. Alexandrea N. Hollinger-Stout was traveling east and turning left when she was hit by Modlin who stopped at the stop sign but failed to yield the right of way. Approximately $1,900 damage was done to Hollinger-Stout’s vehicle and $400 to Modlin’s vehicle. She was cited and released to appear.
