Kelley eager to share his time with Iowans

To the editor,

When the Iowa Film Office (known now as Produce Iowa) collapsed several years ago, fellow actor Jay Villwock and I would make regular treks to the Iowa Statehouse to seek support for the Iowa film community. Soon after Iowa House of Representatives member Dan Kelley began his service on the hill, we sought him out and found that he was eager to share his time to help we creative Iowans. He spoke on our behalf with his house colleagues and became our friend.

Of all the many legislators in the Iowa House, Rep. Kelley clearly stands out as a person who wouldn’t hesitate to assist those who would need his help. Although still early in his legislative career, he has managed to serve on several important legislative committees and form important alliances with legislators in both the Iowa house and senate.

As someone who makes his living strictly through creative means, and as one who knows how important it is to have members in the Iowa legislature understand the value of the efforts and needs of artists, musicians, actors and other creative Iowans, I am thankful I know Rep. Kelley and look forward to his continued service to us all.

As past president of the Newton Board of Realtors and being a member of both the Iowa Association of Realtors and the Newton Board of Realtors, Rep. Kelley brings to his legislative duties personal experience in the world of Iowa commerce. He also brings people skills, which is essential when performing in his legislative capacity and interacting with fellow representatives and especially with members of the Iowa senate.
