Madison Bagnall, 2014 Newton High School graduate, was named to the 2014 Iowa Girls' Athletic Coaches Association Academic All-State Softball team. Bagnall completed her senior season for Newton softball in July when the Cardinals lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs. Bagnall was the team's starting first baseman. To be nominated for academic all-state, a student-athlete needs to have a score of 27 or higher on the ACT or 1200 or higher on the SAT, and a grade point average of 3.75 or higher.
