SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — An Iowa filmmaker plans to make a documentary about Abraham Lincoln’s tomb in Springfield, Illinois.
Chris Ryder of Le Claire is partnering with the Lincoln Monument Association on the project to mark the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s death.
“It will be a perfect balance of interviews, narration and musical interludes with cinematic touches,” Ryder told The State Journal-Register.
Ryder said he came up with the idea for the documentary while watching YouTube videos about Lincoln’s Tomb. Ryder says the documentary will start with the arrival of Lincoln’s funeral train in Springfield in 1865. It will include details about the construction of the tomb, the attempted theft of Lincoln’s body and the movement of the body more than a dozen times due to a low water table.
