Parade entries must be registered by Monday

The Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for sponsors, volunteers and parade entries for Newton’s annual Fourth of July parade and festivities.

This year’s theme is “A Hometown Fourth of July.” Float or parade entries may be planned around any Fourth of July memory, from family picnics and ice cream socials, to a pie eating contest or a church carnival.

“This year reflects the simple, pure memories of friends, family and neighbors gathering to celebrate our great country together,” according to the Chamber’s website.

The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 4. All parade entries must be registered by Monday. A $10 parade entry donation fee is encouraged to help with the costs of hosting the parade. For more information, call (641) 792-5545.

Helen Grosvenor has been selected as the parade grand marshal. Watch the Daily News next week for a feature story on her.
