Lynnville-Sully girls rally past Sigourney

SIGOURNEY — Lynnville-Sully’s girls trailed 7-2 after two innings Thursday against host Sigourney in South Iowa Cedar League play. The Hawks did not give up another run while scoring 13 for a 15-7 victory.

The Class 1A second-ranked Hawks pushed four runs across in the third and the tying run in the fourth. Lynnville-Sully exploded for seven runs in the sixth inning and added a run in the seventh.

Lynnville-Sully’s girls improved to 18-0 in their quest for another SICL title while Sigourney dropped to 14-2 in league play. The Hawks are 26-1 overall.

The Hawk girls are slated to play Des Moines Christian tonight at home and then in the Marshalltown tournament Saturday.

Shelby Davis hammered out a home run and a single and had three RBIs. Kasiah Ehresman went 3-for-4 with three singles while Madison Rasmusson, Becca Vos, Shayline Lukehart each had two singles.

Lysandra James doubled. Jade Van Rees and Kristal Beyer each had a single.

Rasmusson went the distance in the circle for the Hawks. She allowed eight hits, walked two and struck out nine.

Lynnville-Sully’s boys dropped a heartbreaker, 9-8, to Sigourney Thursday night. No details on the game were available at press time.
