Louise Meakins gave an interesting presentation on wind energy in Iowa at the June 24 meeting. Electricity is generated from the rotation of the blades that turn to face the wind.  The pitch of the blades also adjusts automatically. Electricity needs to be used as made.  Iowa wind energy can supply 44 times the need in Iowa. Wind produces 27 percent of our energy which is enough to power 1.5 million homes.

The group will make a monthly monetary contribution to the East Jasper County Food Pantry. Members continue to weed and tend the flowers at city hall, the library, the gazebo in the park and the triangle at the entrance to town.
