PCM drops season series with Gilbert

GILBERT — PCM had its chances to score Wednesday night, but more times than not the Mustangs couldn’t convert in a 7-3 loss to the Tigers.

Trailing 7-2 heading into the seventh inning, PCM loaded the bases with no outs. Gilbert quickly eliminated the Mustangs’ threat, however, by recording a strikeout and a game-ending double play.

In total, PCM (7-6) left nine runners on base.

The Mustangs held a 2-1 lead briefly in the third until the Tigers reclaimed the lead by scoring in every inning from the third through the sixth.

Austin Brown started on the mound and took the loss for PCM, lasting five innings and yielding five runs.

PCM’s Troy Vittetoe and Clay Cooper both finished 2-for-4 with a double.
