Ardith E. Lux

Ardith Elaine Lux, 89, of Newton died Monday evening, June 16, 2014, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. A funeral service for Ardith will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, June 20 at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with Pastor Gary Marzolf of Newton conducting the service. A visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials in Ardith’s name are being designated to Jasper County Humane Society. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

Ardith, the daughter of Lloyd and Maude (Woody) Stolkesberry, was born July 12, 1924, in Knoxville. She was a graduate of the Knoxville Senior High, Class of 1945. On Jan. 22, 1949, Ardith was united in marriage with Clifford Pink in Newton.

Ardith was employed as a secretary for many years, legal secretary to Leon Miller in Knoxville, and secretary to the Jasper County Sheriff and county attorneys. On July 1, 1961, Ardith married Gilbert Lux in Newton. Gilbert would precede her in death on April 23, 1988. She had devoted her life to her husbands and friends, and enjoyed reading, her flowers, gardening and Casey her cat.

Ardith was preceded in death by her parents; and both of her husbands.

Those left to honor Ardith’s memory include her cousins; several nieces and nephews.
