COLLINS — An extra-inning surge pushed Prairie City-Monroe past Collins-Maxwell/Baxter Monday night.

The Mustangs scored five runs in the eighth inning and then held the Raiders scoreless in the bottom half for a 8-3 victory.

PCM sophomore Clay Cooper provided three of his team’s four RBIs as he went 3-for-5 at the plate with a double. Junior Ron Marshall had PCM’s other RBI.

PCM also benefitted from four CMB errors.

The Mustangs scored all eight of their runs after trailing 3-0 at the start of the fifth inning.

Mustang Junior Chase Keuning picked up the win on the mound. He pitched into the eighth, his longest outing of the year, and struck out a season-high three batters.

It was PCM’s first extra-inning game of the year.
