Wide-Opening Weekend will kick off tonight with the NASCAR Nationwide Test Laps and Horsepower Hour at the Iowa Speedway. The opening race weekend will feature multiple fan-focused events in addition to the races.

The fan-focused events will include an up close look at the pre-race show, a classic arcade sponsored by Up-Down Arcade Bar in Des Moines, a mechanical bull named Piston, autograph sessions, a rock wall and a logo hunt game. There also will be a Monster Energy Jump Show, which will feature talent that has performed across the world using motorcycles, four-wheelers and snow mobiles.

“Everything you have seen on the X-Games will be what your going to experience during this jump show,” Monster motorcyclist Heath Frisby said. “These guys have performed across the world doing what they love.”

This jump show was unique to Frisby, but his passion for anything with a motor in it, and he said he is excited about the event.

“It’s a very unique event for us to perform at NASCAR races,” Frisby said. “It’s truly an honor to perform for the fans of NASCAR and Iowa Speedway.”

After the race on Saturday, Montgomery Gentry will take the stage for a post-race concert. The country music duo is made up of Troy Gentry and Eddie Montgomery. The duo has sold millions of albums, sold out shows and have won multiple awards since the group burst onto the scene in 1999.

The group’s claim to fame has been singing for the blue collar workers as described on the website of Montgomery Gentry.
