Thank you, contributors to Newton High School Body Shop

To the editor:

As the school year draws to a close, I would like to publicly thank everyone who has continued to help make The Body Shop a success at Newton Senior High School.

The Body Shop is a place where students can get personal care items, such as  shampoo, deodorant, lotion, lip balm, razors and laundry soap — free of charge. The girls’ swimming team got the ball rolling in the fall with a team builder activity that stocked our shelves, and then we received sizable monetary/product donations from the Newton Community Educational Foundation, Theisen’s, the Elks Club, Hy-Vee, and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

In addition, there are a number of community members who continue to think of us and donate products. Retired guidance counselor Trudy Shirley, and substitute teacher, Jill Clapper, are strong supporters or our mission. Thanks also to the NHS Alumni News for a write up on our program.

If you think teenagers today are not grateful or gracious, I’m here to tell you that I hear a “thank you” almost every single day.  Our mission continues to be “helping students be successful one product at a time,” and The Body Shop would like to thank the community for the continued support.
