Thank you, Dan Kelley

I’ve known Dan Kelley since our days at Newton Senior High School. We became friends on the speech team. We were able to keep in touch throughout the 1990s, since Dan was the DJ at almost every wedding I went to. Back in 2000, when it came time to plan  my own wedding, I only had a request. We had to have Dan as DJ, because he was the best in the business.

Fast forward to present day. I now live in Ankeny and have a son in Cub Scouts. A while back we were brainstorming for field trip ideas for the boys. That’s when I called my old friend, Dan Kelley, to ask about a State Capitol tour. Dan was more than happy to set a tour for us. The boys and the parents really enjoyed it. Especially me, since I’d never visited the Capitol. Unfortunately, we got some snow the Saturday morning of our tour, and Dan couldn’t make it. But I got several text messages from him, just making sure everything was going as planned.

This got me thinking, since I’m not a voter in Jasper County, Dan could have easily referred me to a website or phone number for Capitol tours. Dan took the time to set up the tour himself just to help an old friend. THANK YOU DAN KELLEY!
