Weather trims prep slate

Rainy, cool weather Thursday postponed high school sporting events.

Newton’s tennis and soccer teams — boys and girls — were “given” the day off. The NHS tennis teams will make up duals against Oskaloosa — girls at home and the boys at Oskaloosa — on May 1. There wasn’t yet a reschedule date for the soccer games against Marshalltown.

Collins-Maxwell/Baxter postponed the Lady Raider track meet, May 5 is the possible rescheduled date, according to CMB girls’ head coach Jerry Meinerts. Colfax-Mingo girls were in that meet along with CMB.

Prairie City-Monroe and Pella Christian’s girls were to have played golf at Oskaloosa, but the meet was postponed until May 1. The PCM boys’ golf team will go to Moravia on May 1 now.
