Raider girls find going tough at Bengal Relays

GILBERT — Youth in the ranks showed for Collins-Maxwell/Baxter’s Raider girls Monday at the Gilbert Bengal Relays.

“With a young team, you are going to have some good nights, and some bad nights, and tonight was one of those nights where we didn’t compete our best,” said CMB girls’ head coach Jerry Meinerts,

“No excuses, we just need to be more consistent in the field events and on the track.  We’re not going to set personal bests every time we compete, but we should be right there competing hard and making the other teams run their personal records to beat us.  I look for us to bounce back and have a good meet on Thursday night at home.”

CMB hosts a girls’ invitational track meet Thursday at Baxter.

The Raiders’ 4x100-meter relay team of Maddy Poage, Toni Spencer, Bridget Hurley and Mackenzie Schmitz had the top performance of the meet. They combined for second place in 54.10 seconds.
