Skiff Medical Center Chief Operating Officer Brett Altman was recently honored by iSPEAK Toastmasters in Newton for his achievement in the field of leadership.
Altman completed both the Competent and Advanced Leadership curricula by completing 10 comprehensive projects as well as other advanced requirements to earn his coveted status. He was awarded the certifications at a recent club meeting.
“We’re excited to present Brett these awards,” club mentor and Toastmasters Assistant Area 51 Governor Claude Hartman said. “As a charter member of Jasper Jawbreakers, he’s been instrumental in helping form our new club, iSPEAK, and as Club President, he continues to mentor others in improving their communication and leadership skills. Likewise, I’m impressed with the rest of the members’ passion to follow his lead in succeeding their goals to better communication and leadership.”
Altman served as the Director of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Skiff for 15 years. For the past four years, he has served as the hospital’s COO. He is also past President of the Iowa Physical Therapy Association.
In addition to Toastmasters, he currently serves on the elder board at Community Heights Alliance Church and is an active member of Kiwanis.
The Newton area Toastmasters iSPEAK Club meets at noon every Friday at Skiff’s In-Service Room located on the lower level. Guests are invited to attend. For more information, contact Dan Livengood at (641) 521-5600.
