Tigerhawks fall in districts

ALLEMAN —Colfax-Mingo’s boys ended their season on Monday with a 65-36 loss to North Polk in the first round of district play. The Tigerhawks finish the 2013-14 basketball season winless, at 0-23.

This marks the second time in the past three seasons the Tigerhawks have finished the season without a win, with the closest game coming Dec. 10, a 56-50 loss at Greene County.

Sophomore Colin Lourens led the team in scoring this season, averaging 8.6 points per game. Lourens also led the Tigerhawks in rebounds with five per game. Fellow sophomore Jacob Lietz was second on the team in points with 6.9 per game. Lietz’ 55 assists were tops among all Tigerhawks this season. C-M lacked a true deep threat, but senior Juan Gonzales stepped up to lead the team with 10 threes.

C-M graduates seniors Nate Smith, Gonzales, Marcus Tomlonovic and James Stoecker.
